About R.T Sishu Sadan English Medium High School
R.T Sishu Sadan English Medium High School has been part of Hailakandi’s educational journey since 1973.
What began as a modest effort to provide English medium education has grown over five decades into an institution shaped by the dedication of teachers, guardians, students, members of the Managing Committee and well wishers from the community.
In 2023, the school completed 50 years of its journey and celebrated its Golden Jubilee, marking an important chapter in its history.
Our Story
The school began in 1973, initially as Montessori School, with classes commencing in May of that year.
In its early years, the school did not have a permanent building of its own and functioned from different premises in Hailakandi. As enrolment and academic activity grew, the institution gradually expanded beyond its early classes and continued to develop.
Over time, it became known as Sishu Sadan English Medium School and later evolved into R.T Sishu Sadan English Medium High School.
The school’s progress was made possible by the efforts of many individuals who contributed their time, guidance and support during its formative years.
Five Decades of Education
The development of R.T Sishu Sadan has been gradual, shaped by steady academic growth and continued community support.
A significant academic milestone came in 1990, when the first batch of students appeared for the H.S.L.C. examination. The school’s historical record notes that all students in that first batch were successful.
Infrastructure also developed with time. In 2014, a grant of ₹20 lakh was sanctioned from the M.P. Area Development Fund during the tenure of Dr. Manmohan Singh. The grant contributed to the construction of a two storey school building. The second floor was later extended by the school authority.
By 2023, the school had completed 50 years of its journey and celebrated its Golden Jubilee.
Rooted in Hailakandi
R.T Sishu Sadan has grown alongside the town of Hailakandi.
From its early years in temporary premises to the development of its present campus, the school has remained closely connected with the community around it.
Its history is reflected not only in its buildings and milestones, but also in the generations of students, teachers, guardians and well wishers who have been part of the institution over the years.
